The Born and Raised Workshop
Est in 2012 and inspired by the beauty and variety of the stone that appears due to local geological faults, the very same faults that provided the coal and minerals to fuel the industrial revolution.
Having amassed a great personal collection of these stunningly varied gemstones, the artist fuses them with designs that represent a deep local cultural heritage. A history hidden in the language, artistry and gnostic traditions that all thrived here prior to, and despite of, many eras of medieval conquest.
The B&R workshop is in the hall of a 1892 Baptist Kirk,

The workshop experience may be different than you imagine.
It is fairly cold.

The spinning discs can be a bit intimidating
If you are comfortable with those things and you have average co-ordination skills.
You decide your own level of involvement in the process.
Create your own cabochon or facet, pendant or blackknife with the artist.
